Hardwood Flooring Color Trends for 2017

Hardwood Flooring Color Trends 2017

What sorts of hardwood color trends can we expect to see take off in 2017?

Hardwood flooring has always been a classic choice for homeowners. Whether you’re looking for something rustic and old-fashioned or something more fashion-forward, having hardwood flooring installed can help you achieve whatever look you desire. With the new year upon us, it’s time to take a look at the various trends we expect to hold in 2017. In the realm of staining and color, there are three clear trends that experts believe we will be seeing more of as the year progresses.

Dark Stains

Dark stained hardwood floors have been gaining in popularity and should explode in 2017. One of the biggest reasons for this is the push towards white cabinetry, which is a huge trend going on right now in other areas of home remodeling. Dark stained wood floors provide a sharp, striking contrast to white cabinets and furniture. These dark floors are quite beautiful, but homeowners should keep in mind that they tend to make rooms look smaller than they really are and show dust more easily than other stains.

Blonde Flooring

On the opposite end of the spectrum, another trend we’re keeping an eye on in 2017 is the drive towards light stained hardwood floors. Light, blonde hardwood, often found with bamboo flooring, makes rooms look much bigger and more open. They also hide dust and dirt a lot better than the darker varieties of staining. Finally, the drive towards more natural sources of lighting in homes is complemented by the use of blonde hardwood floors. These lighter varieties really brighten up a room and make a maximum use of natural light.

Grey Hardwood Flooring

Experts have been predicting the demise of the gray flooring trend for several years, but the truth is that gray hardwood flooring continues to pick up steam. Grey stains are neutral and calming and quickly becoming a staple in modern homes. Even gray cabinetry seems to be on trend as the demand for gray flooring continues. If this color appeals to your sense of taste, it does not seem to be going away any time soon and should stay in style at least until it is time to replace the flooring.
