How To Clean Your Wood Floor

If you own a home with hardwood floors, you know that in order to keep them beautiful and looking like new, you have to establish an effective cleaning routine. But what is the best way to go about cleaning your hardwood floors? Are there certain things that you should avoid so as not to damage your floors? JKE Hardwood Flooring has the answers for you.

As far as your weekly cleaning goes, you do not have to do anything special in order to keep your hardwood floors looking like new. Regular dusting and vacuuming should take care of most of the dirt, dust, and debris that collects on the surface of your floors. Getting rid of these kinds of build up should also help prevent scratching.

You can tackle oily or grimy wood surfaces with a wood cleaning product. While ordinarily you want to keep moisture away from your hardwood floors, using a mop to spread the product and then rinsing with a mop dipped in water will not harm the wood so long as you are able to remove any standing water from the surface. You can expedite the drying process if you use a fan on the wood.

If your hardwood flooring has experienced notable wear and tear, it might be time to refinish it. Sanding and re-staining the wood will bring it back to its original shine, luster, and quality. However, you do not need to refinish a hardwood floor every time there is a scratch or dent that forms; treat small issues periodically, and there will be no need to refinish your floor immediately.
