4 Questions to Ask to Find the Best Home Flooring

Finding the right flooring for your home involves plenty of research. This means you’ve got to know which questions to ask.

Finding the right flooring for your home involves plenty of research. This means you’ve got to know which questions to ask.  What do you need and what does your family want? These are just some of the important questions you need to answer

Which One Boosts Home Value?

The question posed above is one of the most important ones to answer when you are in the market for new floors. So if you are looking for ways to improve your home’s property value, then you are in luck. That’s because you have plenty of options. Our top suggestions include hardwood and bamboo. Did you know that hardwoods can give you a return on investment around 70-80%? It’s true!

What About Kitchens and Bathrooms?

Along with laundry rooms and basements, you can expect kitchens and bathrooms to see the highest levels of water exposure. Most homeowners spring for unfinished hardwood floors, bamboo flooring, or cork. Natural stone, ceramic, and porcelain are also used. But all things considered, you should probably choose prefinished hardwood flooring.

For High-Traffic Homes?

When you have a large family, that’s one sign you have a high-traffic home. It could be from kids, pets, or visitors; the traffic we mean is foot traffic. Kitchens, hallways, family rooms, and entryways are probably going to see the most foot traffic. This is where you want durable flooring that will stand up to scratches and dents, especially from your pets’ nails or potentially-dropped items. This is probably where you’ll want to choose hardwood flooring. Maple, oak, and ash are the best choices for these areas of your home.  LVT and laminate also make sense, especially since they can be fabricated to match real hardwood flooring.

And What About All Rooms?

Newer homes will probably have open floor plans. This means you will probably have to choose what you wall-to-wall flooring you will want. Moisture resistant hardwood flooring is going to be your best bet. Laminate and linoleum flooring are probably good bets as well. Luxury vinyl tile, or LVT, is another choice that you have. It’s waterproof and fade-proof, which means that the summer sunlight won’t take away its shine. It’s also resistant to scratches and dents, which is immensely important.
